Desire – Frog
Death – Bunny
Despair – Blue Pig
Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman have collaborated on a book, Who Killed Amanda Palmer?, featuring pictures of Amanda and stories by Neil. The two appeared at Housing Works Bookstore last Wednesday. Neil read three stories from the book and one story about a living statue/stalker. Amanda played:
-Astronaut
-The Perfect Fit (a Dresden Dolls song about being a living statue)
-Dear Old House
-I Google You (lyrics written by Neil Gaiman)
-Dark Come Soon (a Tegan and Sara cover)
There was also a Q & A where Amanda and Neil asked each other questions written down before the show by audience members. And they auctioned off one of two copies of Who Killed Amanda Palmer? currently on the continent for over a thousand dollars (for charity).
More info on the reading can be found here.
On Friday Amanda Palmer played an incredible show at The Highline Ballroom. After a ukulele intro from the balcony, Amanda made her way to the stage. For most of the show she performed alone with her keyboard but towards the end she was joined by Emilyn Brodsky (who opened for Amanda at her epic New Year’s Eve show) and openers The Lisps for Delilah and a cover of Yakety Yak
. As an encore she performed Leonard Cohen’s One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong
accompanied by her dad, Jack Palmer, who sang and played guitar.
There was also more flying cake then I think I’ve ever seen at a show.
An excellent article on both shows can be found at The Huffington Post.
