They Might Be Giants at Le Poisson Rouge
Above: Captured on Skull Island, John Flansburgh (an orange cat) and John Linell (a yellow duck) have been brought to New York’s Le Poisson Rouge to play their uniquely quirky pop rock. They are billed as They Might Be Giants but clearly they ARE giants! It’s obviously only a matter of time before they run wild through the streets, smashing subway cars, eating police officers, and climbing tall buildings.
Of note: someone once told me that They Might Be Giant’s John Flansburgh played the PR guy in Batman Returns whose nose is bitten by The Penguin. It’s not true! But let’s watch that scene anyway!
They Might Be Giants have been playing almost every month at Le Poisson Rouge and will continue to do so through March. Each show has had a theme and I’m sad to have missed the night they played all of 1990’s Flood in it’s entirety. I’m hoping for an all B-Sides show which would feature the following incredible and little heard tracks.
Whirlpool from Why Does The Sun Shine? EP.
Stormy Pinkness from the Istanbul (Not Constantinople) EP.
She Was A Hotel Detective from the Back to Skull EP.
Cabbagetown from the I Palindrome I EP.

That means “The Red Fish.” We were just in Paris.

it technically means “the red fish.” but word on the street is that it’s the name the french have for what we in the u.s. call “the gold fish.”
