Cats Are Grey

I think it was this clip from The Soup that inspired me to start watching Yo Gabba Gabba.

And in researching Yo Gabba Gabba I discovered that the shows creator Christian Jacobs has a band called The Aquabats. The picture above is probably one of the more realistic drawings I’ve done as The Aquabats actually perform in super hero outfits (although I added the bat ears) and fight a gold robot on stage. Other notable moments were lead singer Jacobs’ (who performs under the name The MC Bat Commander) amazing back flips, a magic chicken man, and some excellent, funny video projections. Their music is fun, upbeat ska/punk along the lines of bands I loved in high school like The Fabulous Hedgehogs and Skankin’ Pickle.

Here is their song CD Repo Man. I was actually watching Repo Man as I drew this picture. It’s all part of the lattice of coincidences.

Also, the logo design is The Aquabats’ own. i can’t take credit for it. And the drawing is an “homage” to the cover of X-Men #1. Which looks like this:
