The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart at Dead Herring

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are one of my current favorite bands. Two Fridays ago they played at Dead Herring which is just around the corner from me. Nick Lesley, Austin Lucas, German Measles, and Baby Teardrops also played. In between, Jen and I looked out the window at the passing JMZ trains wondering if a Z would ever come by. It didn’t. Further research revealed that it only runs at “certain times.”

Here is a picture taken during Baby Teardrops’ set where you can see me and Jen. I am semi-obscured by a light and drinking a water. Jen is to my right.

I also ran into my long lost friend Jed at the show. He can be seen in this picture raising his broken hand in the air. Jed has an excellent band called My Teenage Stride and also a moustache. They are playing August 9th at The Charleston and August 20th at Union Pool.

The Pains Of Being Pure at Heart play beautiful infectiously catchy pop songs obscured by noisy fuzzy noise. Hey Paul is another great “Hey” song. Have you noticed how many great songs start with “Hey?” Hey Ya, Hey, Hey Jude, Hey Joe, the other Hey Joe…

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart is the incredibly catchy closer to their near perfect EP. Which is also titled The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart.

As a bonus, here’s My Teenage Stride with Chock’s Rally.
