Sonic Youth – The Destroyed Room – 2006

The original cover of this CD (a photo of a destroyed room) wasn’t working for me so I redrew it. Now we have the room before it was destroyed. And we know why it was destroyed. It was destroyed by King Kong!

For the hardcore Sonic Youth fan The Destroyed Room is a great collection of rare material, mostly of the droney, instrumental variety. But considering the sonic youth information database lists 65 original non-lp tracks and 28 non-lp covers this album kind of disappoints. I mean, I think we all want to hear “Come and Smash Me Said The Boy With The Magic Penis” or at least the cover of “Within You Without You.”

The Destroyed Room is available on CD or double vinyl with 2 extra tracks.
